Liverpool have smashed the Premier League transfer record for the second time this summer after confirming the arrival of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in a £125 million deal.

The Sweden international becomes the Reds’ marquee signing of a record-breaking transfer window, which has already seen Florian Wirtz join for £116 million, alongside additions including Hugo Ekitiké, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni, Ármin Pécsi, and Freddie Woodman.

Isak Speaks on His Ambition

“It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for,” Isak told the club’s official channels.
“I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that].”

The 24-year-old striker scored 54 goals across three Premier League seasons with Newcastle, establishing himself as one of the division’s most clinical forwards.

Liverpool’s Ambitious Spending

Arne Slot had called for reinforcements in attack after the departures of Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz, and Liverpool responded with unprecedented spending — now well over £400 million this summer.

Slot believes Isak can complement Hugo Ekitiké, who has made a bright start at Anfield with three goals and an assist in his first four games. The Dutch coach hopes the two can form a devastating partnership in Liverpool’s title defense.

With Isak’s arrival, Liverpool underline their determination to retain the Premier League crown and mount a serious challenge for European glory.
