Manchester United have made their move for Benjamin Sesko, submitting an official bid worth €75 million plus €10 million in add-ons to RB Leipzig, according to German outlet BILD.
The 22-year-old Slovenian striker has become one of the most in-demand young forwards in Europe after an outstanding season, scoring 21 goals and providing 6 assists across all competitions for the Bundesliga club.
United had held informal talks with Leipzig earlier this summer but have now taken concrete steps to secure the striker’s signature.
Competition from Newcastle United
Sesko is also being tracked by Newcastle United, who initially offered €75m including €5m in add-ons—a proposal Leipzig rejected. The Magpies have since returned with an improved package, reportedly worth at least €80m.
While Arsenal were previously in the race, they’ve dropped their pursuit after signing Viktor Gyökeres, leaving United and Newcastle as the primary contenders.
Why Sesko Fits the Premier League
Standing tall with excellent pace and sharp finishing, Šeško offers a rare mix of physicality and mobility. He’s adept at getting behind defenses, linking up play, and serving as a target man. Although still developing his passing and overall link-up skills, his goal-scoring instincts and strength make him a perfect profile for Premier League football.
What’s Next?
With both Premier League giants now battling for his signature, the final decision may rest on Leipzig’s valuation—and Šeško’s own preference.
United’s bid signals serious intent as they look to revamp their forward line ahead of the new season.
