Manchester City will be without Josko Gvardiol and Savinho when they take on Wolves in their Premier League opener at Molineux on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola revealed on Friday that Gvardiol joins compatriot Mateo Kovacic on the sidelines, with the midfielder unlikely to return until September. Savinho, meanwhile, picked up an injury during last week’s pre-season trip to Palermo and will miss a few weeks.
“Kovacic is not ready, Josko is not ready, the others are,” Guardiola said.
“Savinho is injured from Palermo. Few weeks he will be out.”
On a positive note, Phil Foden and Rodri are expected to travel after missing the trip to Sicily. Guardiola stressed the importance of managing Rodri’s return carefully following a knee injury.
“It is important his knee is perfect… we try to avoid him coming back too soon,” he added.
Speaking at his press conference, Guardiola addressed speculation over the Brazilian’s future:
“Ederson didn’t come to me and say I want to leave or I have an offer,” the City boss said.
“All the players are here and are our players and I work with them… What’s going to happen, nobody knows!”
Ederson’s absence will fuel further rumours about his situation, but for now, City insist there has been no request to leave.
City kick off against Wolves at 17:30 UK time, with full coverage available via the club’s official channels.
