Gianluigi Donnarumma is reportedly ready to leave Paris Saint-Germain after being left out of the club’s UEFA Super Cup squad, with the Premier League emerging as his most likely destination.

The Athletic reports that the Italy captain is “open to leaving PSG” but will only depart for the right club and at the right moment. His absence from the Super Cup squad comes despite enjoying arguably the best season of his career—helping PSG win their first-ever Champions League and reaching the Club World Cup final.

Contract Stand-Off with PSG

Donnarumma, 26, has just one year remaining on his contract. Talks over a new deal collapsed after he refused to accept the club’s revised wage structure. PSG’s summer signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille as the new No.1 has intensified speculation over the goalkeeper’s future.

The standoff has already sparked interest from several Premier League sides, but concrete moves are yet to materialise.

Premier League Interest – United, Chelsea, City

  • Manchester United – Only likely to move if André Onana leaves this summer. Fabrizio Romano estimates United’s chances at just 30%.
  • Chelsea – Not in active talks and reportedly “happy” with current options Robert Sánchez, Filip Jørgensen and Gabriel Slonina.
  • Manchester City – RMC Sport reports City could move if Ederson departs, with the Brazilian currently in talks with Galatasaray. City have already signed James Trafford from Burnley for £31m but remain open to adding Donnarumma.

Waiting Game in Paris

Despite the arrival of Chevalier, Donnarumma will not force through an unsatisfactory move and is prepared to remain in the French capital for now. However, L’Équipe claims the “rift” between player and club is “complete” just two months after their Champions League triumph.
