Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has admitted the club may need to enter the transfer market for a central defender following Levi Colwill’s recent injury.
Speaking to the media, Maresca said:
“The club knows what I think, we need a central defender in my view after Colwill’s injury… but we are looking internally for a defender.”
The Blues are currently assessing their squad depth, with Maresca confirming that internal options will be considered before making a final decision on a potential signing.
Colwill’s setback leaves Chelsea short of natural central defensive options, and with the Premier League season underway, reinforcement could be vital to maintain their ambitions.
