Tottenham Hotspur are making a bold push to secure Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze, reigniting interest in the England international as a potential marquee signing this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have reopened talks for Eze in a move entirely separate from their ongoing negotiations for Manchester City winger Savinho.
Eze, fresh off leading Palace to their first-ever major trophy — the FA Cup — and lifting the Community Shield, has long been linked with Arsenal. However, Tottenham’s renewed pursuit sets up a fascinating north London transfer battle.
Interested clubs have until Friday to activate Eze’s £67.5 million release clause (£60 million guaranteed, £7.5 million in add-ons). After the deadline, Palace are expected to demand a similar figure, and The Guardian report they have already identified Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss as a replacement.
Sources say Eze is “keen” on joining Tottenham, who have already suffered major creative losses this summer. Son Heung-min’s move to LAFC and James Maddison’s ACL injury have stripped Spurs of their two most prolific assist providers from last season — a duo who combined for 16 Premier League goals.
In response, manager Thomas Frank has added Mohammed Kudus and finalised the permanent signing of Mathys Tel, but Tottenham are still hunting for more attacking quality.
Savinho remains another target, but Manchester City are reluctant to part with the Brazilian winger after an eight-assist Premier League debut season. Any deal for the 20-year-old would reportedly exceed £50 million.
If Spurs land both Eze and Savinho, it would be a statement of intent in their bid to rejoin the Premier League’s top four — while also delivering a major blow to rivals Arsenal.
