The draw took place on 28 August 2025 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, unveiling the schedule for the new league phase of the Champions League—an expansion to 36 teams.
The revamped format features 8 matches per team, playing against eight different opponents (one home and one away per opponent), ensuring a diverse and balanced schedule
Matchdays run from 16 September 2025 to 28 January 2026, with all eight fixtures scheduled in that window.
At the end of the league phase:
- Top 8 teams advance directly to the Round of 16.
- Teams ranked 9–24 enter a play-off knockout to join the round of 16.
- Teams placed 25 and below are eliminated without transfer to the Europa League
